Google has announced new tools to improve user data privacy. The most important of these tools will be an update that allows you to remove personal information from search results. You will also have the right to filter your images on the internet.
Google to offer option to blur images in Search results
Google is giving users more control over their personal information in Search results. The most significant change is the expansion of the “Results about you” tool, first announced last year. You will now receive a warning from Google if a specific phone number or address is listed in the search results.
The software giant will also consolidate these reports into a single dashboard to make it easier to find and remove personal information. So you will be able to request Google to remove your data and that of another person.
In addition to personal information checks, Google will also offer the option to blur some images in Search results. The blurring feature will be enabled by default in Search results in an update to the Safe Search tools.
Users can disable blurring in Search if they wish. However, it will not be possible to fully see blurred images requested by a specific person.
For now, these security features for search results are only available in English for the US. However, Google plans to expand these tools to more languages and countries soon. It’s worth noting that a data removal request in the US will be applied globally.
